Bookmarks make a page/article quickly available, for future reference, and allow you to jump immediately back to that page/article at will. To set a bookmark, tap any page in an open magazine, to open the extended magazine controls. In the upper-right portion of the page, tap the ‘open-book’ icon to open the book-marking dialog:

Tap the “Show Bookmarks” button to display any existing bookmarks, and the “Add Bookmarks” button to create new bookmarks. To delete a bookmark, tap the “Show Bookmarks” button, and then tap the “Edit” button. The bookmarks will slide to the right slightly and red, minus-sign icons will be displayed. Tapping the icon will cause it to rotate and a delete button will appear to the right of the bookmark. Tap the “Delete” button to delete the bookmark. Press the “Done” button when you are done. Tap the magazine page to return to the magazine.
